Choosing adventure riding bootsUpdated an hour ago
Your feet are often the first thing to hit the ground in a spill, so good adventure boots are essential. Unlike motocross boots, adventure boots are usually waterproof, lighter, and comfortable enough to walk in.
What to look for
- Protection: reinforced toe and heel, sturdy ankle support and impact-resistant materials. CE-certified armour is a bonus.
- Comfort and fit: snug but not tight, with adjustable closures and breathable linings.
- Waterproofing: a Gore-Tex or similar lining keeps your feet dry through rain and river crossings.
- Sole quality: a grippy, anti-slip sole, relatively rigid for off-road support.
Returning boots? Don't stand on the foot pegs when trying them on, as pegs can mark the soles.
